Product-specific requirements
Meat & Poultry: Strict halal slaughter compliance; ESMA-approved slaughterhouse cert required.
Dairy: Halal cert covering processing; no alcohol-based additives.
Cosmetics: Mandatory halal cert from 2024 under GSO 2055-2.
Packaged Food: Full ingredient declaration; animal-origin E-numbers must be certified halal.

Market entry notes
UAE is the Gulf's primary import and re-export hub. ESMA compliance opens the entire GCC market. Port of Jebel Ali (Dubai) and Abu Dhabi are main entry points. Free zones (JAFZA, KIZAD) maintain standard halal requirements.
Recent regulatory changes
2024: ESMA expanded mandatory halal cert to cosmetics. 2023: ESMA approved certifier list updated — verify current list before export.
